Pipe Reducer Fittings is a component in pipeline that reduces the pipe size from a larger to a smaller bore which is inner diameter. A reducer can be either nozzle or as diffuser depending upon the mach number of the flow. Also reducer allows exchange in pipe size to meet all the hydraulic flow requirement of the system.
There is a concentric reducer used to join pipe or tube sections on the same axis. This provides an inline conical transition between pressurized pipes of different diameters. A pipe reducer can be single diameter change or a multiple diameter change. The pipe flow is affected by the inner diameter conical transition configuration which can axially move and externally reconfigured to provide more economical reducer fittings types. The uses of concentric reducer will powerfully transit between the piping and the pump. It helps the transporting slurries or even abrasive liquids. These are also very useful where capitation is present, transporting between flanges or pipes of different ratings and wear protections is always necessary, concentric reducers are very ideal for this role. Concentric reducers are useful in many discharge of the pump. Also there are eccentric reducer fittings as they are manufactured with a smaller outlet off center to the larger end, which allows it to align only on one side of the inlet. The reducer must be installed with a very straight side up which can easily stop the air at the pump suction.
